The Lord Lyon: A Perspective on Scotland’s Heraldry

The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland is hosting a special online event with Dr Joseph Morrow, Lord Lyon King of Arms, on 1 October, 5pm UK Time. In this 45-minute talk, Dr Morrow will explore Scotland’s heraldic tradition and its relevance today, including how heraldry and genealogy can tell powerful stories and help people across the world connect with Scotland’s past.
Diana Murray CBE, President of the Society, will then introduce Scotland’s heritage hub, the vision for a new national and independent gateway to Scotland’s history, heritage and archaeology.

About the Lord Lyon King of Arms
The Lord Lyon is Scotland’s senior officer of arms and head of the Court of the Lord Lyon, the authority responsible for regulating Scottish heraldry, granting new coats of arms and maintaining Scotland’s official heraldic records. Dr Joseph Morrow has served as Lord Lyon King of Arms since 2014 and has been a Fellow of the Society since 2010.
